In my room, I sat on the bed, staring blankly. I was about to just
give up. I watched as my doorknob turned slowly, and in walked Ike.
"Zac...just let me explain..." he whispered. I could hear the lump in his throat grow
thick when he spoke.
"I'm listening," I mumbled. He sighed and sat next to me on the bed.
"I know what you're thinking, I mean, I'd be thinking that, too...but it wasn't like
that." he breathed.
"Then what was it like?" I said coldly. I couldn't help but be mad; for all I knew, all
this could land me in the insane asylum.
"Zac," Ike choked, "Please believe me...it didn't mean anything! It just...happened."
I softened a little bit when I saw tears rolling down his eyes.
"I believe you." I confessed. Ike lifted his head and looked at me.
"Yeah." I sighed. "You always look at my chin when you're lying; you've been looking
in my eyes since you walked in." More tears raced down Ike's cheeks as he threw his arms around my neck, heaving sobs.
"Taylor's never gonna believe me...and on top of that, Heather's dead and Caitlyn's gone."
he complained. I got the chills down my spine when he mentioned Caitlyn's name. I still felt like everything was entirely
"It's gonna be ok," I muttered. Suddenly, the telephone rang out loudly. I whipped my
head around and faced Ike. We sat there, staring at each other for a moment before jumping up, scrambling for the phone. Ike
reached it first and slowly picked it up. He stood, shaking at his knees and breathing heavy.
"H-hello? Yes, that's me...yes...yes...ok...762? Alright...thank you for your help."
Ike slowly set the phone back on the hook as it clicked and looked over at me.
"Caitlyn's been sighted," He choked. I let out the breath I'd been holding in.
"Where is she?" I begged.
"They gave me a number...I'm supposed to call." he whispered.
"Well what are you waiting for?!" I shouted. Ike smiled.
"This could be it." he said.
"Could be what?" a voice whispered. It was Taylor.
